French railway company SNCF wants to expand its budget-friendly OuiGo offer by bringing a new TGV line to Valence. A few months after launching its first OuiGo trains, the group is accelerating its development. Let’s take a look at the new high-speed train line to Valence and find out more about the OuiGo offer.
Currently, SNCF’s inexpensive OuiGo high-speed trains are accommodating over 400,000 travellers. Enough to call the operation a resounding success for the French railway company, which is now aiming for a million users. The cheap tickets (starting at 9 euros) have paid off. The group wishes to cover even more destinations and is bringing a new TGV line to Valence. This will make it that much easier to visit Valence without digging a hole into your budget!
The French railway company intends on expanding its service to Spain and to offer additional destinations such as Alicante and Seville. SNCF’s goal is to achieve a full and progressive network for its high-speed lines. It is worth noting that OuiGo is the first such service to venture into the Spanish market.
OuiGo is a service which offers optimal value for money. Through this concept, SNCF provides low-cost tickets to welcome travellers on board its double-decker trains which can accommodate over 1,260 travellers and move as fast as standard TGVs to serve various destinations.
The OuiGo train is a TGV which can transport more passengers than a regular train. It has no bar carriage and offers a single travel class. Space is also more limited in terms of luggage compartments. These various provisions allow OuiGo train tickets to be very inexpensive.
One of the key promises of the group is to offer exceptional value. Offers start at 9 euros for adults and 5 euros for children ages 4 to 13. It is worth noting, however, that this offer is, for the moment, part of an introduction strategy.
Large families will also benefit from significant discounts up to 20% off for the regular category, and 50% for the special category. The trains are even fitted with sleeping and breastfeeding areas to welcome babies.
Following this introduction phase, the group maintains that they will continue to apply a “low-cost” policy to their services. As is the case for other modes of transportation such as planes, prices may be increased for additional luggage or extra services. A regular ticket includes one hand luggage plus another baggage inside the passenger cabin. Extra parcels may be added up to 30 minutes before departure.
The company insists that they want to systematise this low-price policy and apply it to other services, making OuiGo Flex and Plus cheaper as well. The first offer allows passengers to benefit from flexible dates on their tickets, whereas the second option will be a first-class service. In addition, repeat customers will receive special discounts to travel at reduced rates.
OuiGo offers flexible services and aims to make returns and modifications more convenient for its clients. In most cases, they will be able to change their plans up to 30 minutes before the train is set to depart. However, several operations, such as selecting your seat or requesting a different one, will warrant additional fees.
The company has put in place a digital system to facilitate ticket purchases. They can be ordered via the website or from the application. The high-speed trains journey through the French landscape at 300 km per hours all while bringing their commitment for sustainability to fruition thanks to environmentally friendly operating conditions.
